Head spa

What is a head spa?

A head spa is a relaxing scalp-and-hair treatment that combines a deep cleanse, a scalp massage, and nourishing treatments in one session. At Hello Bailey in Mission Viejo, our head spa moves through a dry scalp oil massage, a cleanse, a hair mask with warm steam, a warm water rinse over the scalp, hot towels, and a blow-dry, so you leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. From the 90-minute session a mini facial comes with it, so it is part scalp care, part skincare, part deep relaxation.

What's the difference between a head spa, a scalp treatment, and a scalp massage?

People use these terms interchangeably, and at Hello Bailey they all refer to the same core experience, our head spa. The nuance:

  • Head spa is the full experience: cleanse + scalp massage + treatment + relaxation, plus a mini facial from the 90-minute session upwards.
  • Scalp treatment describes the part that targets a specific concern, such as product buildup, a dry or flaky scalp, or an oily scalp.
  • Scalp massage, which guests also call a head massage, describes the relaxing, circulation-boosting massage that runs throughout the session, along with the neck, shoulder and arm massage that comes with it.

So whether you searched for a "head spa," a "scalp treatment," a "scalp massage" or a "head massage" near Mission Viejo, our head spa services cover all of them, and the longer sessions add facial steps on top.

Is this a Japanese head spa?

Our head spa draws on the Japanese head spa tradition, a calm, ritual-based scalp cleanse and massage. We adapted it into our own relaxing Hello Bailey experience.

What are the benefits of a head spa?

A head spa can help remove product buildup and excess oil, soothe a dry or itchy scalp, relieve tension in the head, neck, and shoulders, support a healthy scalp environment for hair, and leave hair feeling clean and refreshed. From 90 minutes the mini facial adds a cleanse, a facial massage, a cooling mask and a rich cream, so you leave looking rested as well as feeling it. Many guests come simply for the deep relaxation and stress relief.

Does a head spa help with hair growth or thinning hair?

A head spa supports a clean, healthy scalp and improves circulation through massage, which creates a better environment for healthy hair. It is a wellness and relaxation service, not a medical treatment. For diagnosed hair loss, see a dermatologist.

Eyebrow services

What eyebrow services do you offer?

We offer Brow Lamination ($70), which lifts and sets your brow hairs for a fuller, more defined look, and Brow Lamination & Tint ($95), which adds a custom tint for extra color and shape. A wax clean-up add-on is available with a lamination booking to tidy the shape. Ask when you book, or text (949) 767-6636, and we will confirm the price.

What is brow lamination and how long does it last?

Brow lamination is a treatment that smooths and sets your natural brow hairs into a fuller, more uniform shape, great for taming unruly brows or filling in gaps. There are no needles and nothing permanent; results typically last 6-8 weeks.

Eyelash extensions & lash services

What types of eyelash extensions do you offer?

This is subject to change but we offer four full-set styles in Mission Viejo, from natural to dramatic:

  • Classic Fullset, $120: one extension per natural lash for a simple, natural look.
  • Hybrid Fullset, $140: a 50/50 mix of classic and volume for a fuller, textured look.
  • Volume Fullset, $160: fanned extensions for a fuller, fluffier lash line.
  • Mega Volume Fullset, $180: our fullest, most dramatic set.
  • Anime (Manga) Lashes, $150: spiky, individual strands for a bold, standout look.

We also offer refills for each style, plus bottom lashes and lash removal.

What's the difference between classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume lashes?

It's about how full you want to look. Classic places one extension on each natural lash for a natural finish. Volume fans several lightweight extensions onto each lash for a fluffy, fuller line. Hybrid blends the two (50/50). Mega volume is the fullest, most dramatic option. Not sure which suits you? We'll help you choose at your appointment.

How often do I need a lash fill?

Most clients come in every 2-3 weeks to keep extensions looking full as natural lashes shed. Anime/Manga lashes are bolder and may need a fill every 1-2 weeks.

What is a lash lift, and how is it different from extensions?

A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that lifts and curls your own natural lashes from the base, with no extensions added. It lasts about 6-8 weeks and is a great low-maintenance alternative to mascara. Add a tint to darken the lashes at the same time (Lash Lift, $105; Lash Lift + Tint, $125). Extensions, by contrast, add length and fullness with applied lashes.

How should I prepare for my lash appointment, and how do I care for them?

Arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes (no mascara or oily eye products). Afterward, keep new extensions dry for the first 24 hours, avoid oil-based products around the eyes, and brush them gently to keep them looking their best.

Manicure & nail services

What manicure services do you offer?

We offer a Gel Manicure ($45): detailed nail shaping, cuticle care, and premium Japanese/Korean gel polish in one classic color. We also offer a Gel-X Manicure ($65), which uses lightweight soft-gel tips for longer, flexible, natural-looking length.

What's the difference between a gel manicure and Gel-X?

A gel manicure applies gel polish to your natural nails for a long-lasting, glossy color. Gel-X adds soft-gel extension tips for added length and shape, so it's the better choice if you want longer nails.

Suitability & safety

Is a head spa safe during pregnancy?

Many guests enjoy a head spa while pregnant, but please let us know when booking so we can adjust positioning and the service for your comfort. If you have any concerns, check with your doctor first.

Can I get a head spa if I have colored, keratin-treated, or chemically treated hair?

Yes. A head spa is gentle and works with color-treated and keratin-treated hair. Tell us about any recent treatments when you arrive so we can customize the products we use.

How often should I get a head spa?

For general scalp health and relaxation, about once a month works well for most people. If you're addressing a specific scalp concern, you may come more often at first. We'll give you a personalized recommendation during your visit.

Do you offer other services besides head spa?

Yes. Along with head spa, scalp treatment, and scalp massage services, Hello Bailey offers eyelash extensions, lash lifts, brow lamination, and gel manicures in Mission Viejo. The facial steps are part of the longer head spa sessions rather than something booked on their own.

What areas do you serve?

We're located in Mission Viejo and welcome guests from across Orange County, including Irvine, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills, and Laguna Woods.

Booking & visit

How long is a head spa session and what does it cost?

This is subject to change but we offer three head spa services in Mission Viejo:

  • Renewal, 60 minutes, $120: a restorative head spa to calm and refresh. Scalp and massage only, with no facial step.
  • Essentials Head Spa, 90 minutes, $160: soothing relief to unwind the mind. The extra half hour is a mini facial.
  • Indulgence Head Spa, 120 minutes, $200: our most complete, deeply relaxing experience. It adds facial exfoliation, a gua sha glide and styling.
How do I book a head spa appointment?

Book online for a head spa or lashes, nails and brows, or call or text us at (949) 767-6636 (text preferred). We're at 24471 Alicia Pkwy, Suite 1, Mission Viejo, CA 92691, by appointment only. Same-day appointments may be available by phone or text.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. A non-refundable deposit per person is required to book: $25 for brow, eyelash extension, head spa, lash lift, lash refill and nail appointments and $10 for nail appointments. A few short add-on services need no deposit. One-time rescheduling is allowed. Our full booking and cancellation policy has the details.

What should I expect at my first head spa visit?

Tell us anything we should know about your scalp or skin when you arrive and we will work around it, then you relax. We work oil through a dry scalp and massage it, carry that into your neck and shoulders, cleanse, apply a hair mask with warm steam, and rinse with warm water flowing over your scalp. Then hot towels and a blow-dry. On the 90-minute session and the 120 there is a mini facial in the middle of that. Just come as you are. There's nothing you need to bring.

Should my hair be clean or dirty when I arrive?

Either is fine. Cleansing is part of the service, so you don't need to wash your hair beforehand. Come straight from your day.

Can I get a head spa together with a friend or as a group?

Yes. We offer head spa group bookings, great for friends, family, or a special occasion. Contact us by phone or text to arrange a group session.

Can I bring my dog or cat?

Please leave pets at home. We keep the studio quiet and spotless for every guest, so pets cannot come into the salon. Service animals are always welcome. Our full studio policy has the wording.

Can I book a head spa as a gift?

Yes. We offer eGift certificates online, and physical gift certificates are available. Call or text us first to arrange one.
